WTF - Now That's a Scratch!

Look, I know I drive an old pick'em truck. I accept that and I like it. However, that doesn't give anyone the right to abuse it whatever way you see fit.

I came back from my work travel to find these long deep scratches on the side of my truck when I had it parked at the airport. That's just rude.

U-Haul . . . Bad Customer Service Policy

My roomate and I moved over Memorial Weekend, one of the busiest times to move. Subsequently, renting a moving truck becomes challenging. Two weeks ago, I made a reservations for a U-Haul truck in the Lakewood area. Their policy is that you have a $5 non-refundable service fee for a reservation. At first glance, this does not seem to be a problem. However, when the U-Haul person called me the next day to tell me that the earliest I can get a truck that day is 5:00 PM.
5:00 PM??
That's the end of the day man! What would even be the point then. I cancelled the reservation (as if that was a realistic offering anyway). However, you still pay the $5.

Now, it's not that $5 is breaking the bank, but it's the principle of the matter - if you can't offer adequate service, then there should not be a $5 service fee. You did not provide me with a service, other than to tell me I'm moving at night. That's ridiculous.

What People Talk About in Public Places

So, I'm sitting here at an Au Bon Pain because they have Internet access and not blocked by corporate firewalls (I know, I'm a dork), and I was hungry too. Anyway, sitting at the table in front of me is this young woman who has been eating and talking on her mobile phone at the same time. First of all, that is one of my biggest pet peeves because if I was the other person on the line, I don't want to hear you chew your damn food. If you want to talk, then call me after you're done, but I'm not interested in hearing your salad crunching in my ear. Moving on, this person has been talking to for the last 30 minutes (and man do I feel sorry for that person!) about her relationship and how she wants to move to California to be with her boyfriend, but she's hesitant because he doesn't want to talk about marriage. She's been going on and on about personal realtionship problems, why he sucks, why she's great, blah blah blah. And perhaps this is the normal process for women to discuss their relationship problems, but in a public place where everyone can hear you? I don't care to hear, though I guess by writing about it, I'm just a snoop now . . . or just enjoying people watching.

Assignment of Mapped Drives

So, Windows XP is not as smart as I had originally thought. I had Anna's digital camera the other night because I had taken pictures of Olivia and I wanted to upload it to Flickr.

The instructions are simple: plug the data cable from the camera into the USB port of your computer. Windows XP will recognize the new device and create a removable drive for the digital camera.

Did not work. However, after speaking the follow IT people at work, they were able to quickly resolve my problem.
